I use Yelp to some degree but with reservations. I happen not to like the sound level in many SF restaurants so even if it’s gotten a good write-up on Yelp, I go and check it out for myself. It the noise level prevents a civilized conversation, then I’m not interested. Unfortunately, I think that it’s only the reviews in the Chron that mention noise levels.

I used to eat at Annabel’s on Fourth St. sometimes when Mercury House was across the street. But the sound level was always annoying.
